My name is Nicole. I recently completed Phase I of the Capital City Rescue Mission’s Family Center. I am also a mother of a 4-year old.
I began spending time with my mother after college. She had struggled with addiction for all my growing up years, but now she was sober.
You see, my mother had become a resident of the Rescue Mission’s New Faith Family Center. I could see such a transformation in her life it amazed me. She was able to take ownership of her past, without being overwhelmed with guilt.
God blessed me with a daughter while I was in college. I lived under the impression that I was in control of my own life. In my mind it was easier to consume myself with work, parenting, and school rather than look at my own sin and hurt. That was about to change.
After spending time with my mom at the Family Center, I wanted to establish a relationship with God of my own. I also recognized I needed healing from the hurts and pain of growing up with an alcoholic mother. So I joined the Mission’s Family Center with my daughter.
Today, I know God. I am His daughter through faith in Christ. My great fear of God has been replaced with genuine gratitude to Him. I am employed and providing for my daughter.
Thank you for a place to heal, to reconcile, and most importantly to get to know God!
